Sywren are a female-fronted four-piece cinematic alt-rock / metal band from the South Coast, UK, featuring Kathi Lyndhurst on vocals, Adam Stanton on guitar, Tom Revell on bass and Stuart Hunt on drums.
Fusing heavy riffs, sweeping melodies and emotionally driven storytelling, Sywren create music that balances intensity with vulnerability—powerful, honest and unafraid. Their songs are rooted in lived experience, exploring trauma, adversity, identity, vulnerability, defiance and recovery while creating space for listeners to find their own meaning within them.
Their debut EP, Subliminal, arrived in 2024, introducing their signature blend of atmospheric heaviness, raw vocal grit and adrenaline-fuelled grooves and gaining international airplay, including support from BBC Introducing. In 2025, Sywren followed with Hero, featuring Hero, Dear Daughter and Stand Your Ground—their biggest tracks to date and a significant step forward for the band.
Now Sywren are entering their next era with their third EP, Novacaine. Rolling out across autumn 2026 through As I Am, Novacaine and No Good Dead, the record explores authenticity and acceptance, the psychological suffocation of toxic attachment, and the deeply personal battle with suicidal thoughts and the choice to remain. The new material has already received further airplay from BBC Introducing, while 2026 has also seen Sywren strengthen their live presence, including a support slot with Mallavora.
This chapter carries additional significance for vocalist and songwriter Kathi Lyndhurst, who has faced life-changing health diagnoses since the beginning of 2026, dramatically altering her mobility and everyday life. Now using mobility and accessibility aids, she continues to write, record, rehearse and perform with Sywren—adapting without allowing those changes to take music away from her.
Inspired by Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, Alter Bridge, Lacuna Coil, RØRY, and Theory of a Deadman, Sywren bring thunderous grooves, soaring melodic hooks and raw emotional connection to both their recordings and an electrifying live show.
Powerful, vulnerable and relentlessly human, Sywren make music for the moments that leave scars—and for everything it takes to keep going afterwards.
